Katie Kinsella – Allergy Mummy And Fabulous Fundraiser.

img_3030Often when you have been through hardship, or someone close to you has suffered medical issues, there is a charity that provides help and support. For me, and for lots of other parent’s of children with allergies, that charity is Allergy UK.

We all try to donate to charity as and when we can, popping loose change in the charity tin’s in shops, wristbands, pin badge’s, it all makes a little difference and raises awareness. Some of us wish to go the extra mile though, and Katie has done just that!
On the 24th April 2016 Katie Kinsella ran the London Marathon in aid of Allergy UK, a gruelling 26 mile run through Central London. She raised just under £2750 – amazing!

img_3023You may wonder why Katie Kinsella is so dedicated to fundraising for Allergy UK, like me,  she is the mother of a child with multiple severe allergies, asthma and eczema. Little Evie is allergic to dairy, soya, wheat, oats, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts, so allergic that she will react if in an establishment such as a coffee shop where milk is heated, frothed, and served up at almost every table.

It would seem running a marathon wasn’t as far as the Kinsella’s would go for the charity, Katie’s husband Rob completed a skydive and just this weekend I attended a fabulous fundraising ball at Dunston Hall in Norfolk organised by Katie and Rob. It was a fantastic evening full of laughter, delicious food, music and a brilliant raffle and auction, Katie put together a wonderful video (view below) about Evie and other children just like her, including my little man – I’m not ashamed to admit I shed one or two tears!

I think we can all agree that what Katie has done for the charity is nothing short of amazing, and I’d like to take this opportunity to praise her once again for her efforts. Your incredible Katie.

I will be sure to keep you up to date with any future fundraising plans Katie masterminds!

Allergy UK provide support for allergy sufferers and their caregivers with support and advice. Their helpline has been a lifeline to me in the past, and that is why I too will be going the extra mile for such a fantastic charity. I will be running the London Superhero Run 2017 in aid of Allergy UK and would really appreciate it if you could spare a few pennies and donate on my Just Giving Page.

Great post to raise awareness abut Allergy UK. Their help was invaluable for us too. I love Katie’s video. So much of what they experienced sounds just like our story. I have photos of Jumpy looking just like Evie. The more we talk about allergies, the more we raise awareness, the less isolated we’ll feel. xx Thanks for sharing with #FreeFromFridays lovely
