I’m the first to admit I’ve not always been cleaning obsessed.
Before Theo I gave the house a once over every couple of days and that’s about as far as it went. But now he’s here, with all his boy muck and environmental allergies, I’ve become quite the ‘clean freak’.
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t clean. Usually at least one room is deep cleaned a day and the children’s bedroom is deep cleaned 2-3 times a week.
He spends a lot of time on the sofa and playing on his bed so these are the areas I tend to focus on the most. We were recently given a Philips Air Purifier AC3256 to review which has been hugely beneficial but I also have a small selection of products I rely on and use regularly.
Budget friendly cleaning is easy to achieve when you know where to look – here’s my top picks.
I love the Stardrops cleaning range – in particular the Leather Clean & Feed. Just a quick spray and a wipe over with a microfiber cloth removes any dust residue and leaves my sofas looking and smelling lovely. Stardrops products are usually around £1.30 each in stores such as QD.
I recently discovered this Febreze Allergen Reducer in my local Poundstretcher store. It is sprayed over Theo’s bedding and our soft furnishings once a day. I truly believe it aids the air purifier and my meticulous cleaning in keeping the dust mites at bay. I picked up this bottle for £1.75 and I’ll definitely be buying more.
In my opinion, Elbow Grease is a gift from the cleaning gods, I’m yet to find something it can’t do! It cleans all my surfaces (other than wood) to a beautiful standard and smells really lovely too! Usually priced at around £1 a bottle, I stock up regularly. I genuinely fear running out!
And last but not least, Zoflora. For cleaning on a budget, Zoflora is fab. It’s a disinfectant sold in a variety of lovely fragrances and it can be found in most supermarkets for around £1.30 a bottle. I love to fill my sink with boiled water and a drop of Zoflora when I’ve finished cleaning for the day, the steam leaves the whole house smelling gorgeous.
I also mix Zoflora with cool boiled water in little spray bottles (see image) and use it as a disinfectant spray. What makes Zoflora a truly budget friendly cleaning product is its many uses.
