Our Trip To The Gluten Free Cafe & Shop, Norwich.

img_2070A few day’s ago myself and the children had a rare day out, just the three of us. We don’t get time out and about together very often with Mia being at school and Theo at nursery so it was really nice to be out and about with them. But of course, taking Theo anywhere requires careful planning and preparation. There are only a handful of places he can eat safely.

What the children didn’t know was that our day out involved a special surprise, a trip to the Gluten Free Shop & Cafe in Norwich. I couldn’t wait to see Theo’s face when he realised he wasn’t restricted to chips or something out of my bag.

We arrived at the Gluten Free Cafe to find a table reserved especially for us, right next to a child’s table on which the children could colour and relax. I couldn’t have been met by more friendly face’s, the lovely Louisa promptly came over and took our order and couldn’t have cared less that the children were a little too excited and making their voices heard!

img_2095I ordered a chocolate orange hot chocolate with a bacon roll, Mia ordered a chocolate cake and an orange juice, and Louisa informed Theo that there were Halloween themed pumpkin cakes complete with a pretend spider on top that were suitable for him – his little face was a picture! He requested one immediately with an apple juice. We couldn’t wait to tuck in! img_2080

With cows, soya, almond, coconut, rice and lactose free milk available, those with an allergy or multiple allergies needn’t worry about not being catered for here. There are a range of different hot beverage’s available, my chocolate orange hot chocolate was absolutely divine!
img_2093My bacon roll was served with a side of gluten free crisps and salad. The bun was gluten free, but tasty nevertheless – not something people often say about gluten free bread! Mia’s cake arrived and I thought her eye’s may pop out of her head! Between two pieces of chocolate sponge lay delicious cream – her favourite! She wolfed down every crumb!

There is something beautiful about watching my son enjoy food, something new and exciting. His cake was soft, moist, and truly delicious. He absolutely loved it.

If you follow a restricted diet, the Gluten Free Cafe & Shop is the place to be. Be served amazing safe foods in a beautiful setting before heading upstair’s to purchase your allergy friendly food staples. 5 stars from us!

The team at the Gluten Free Cafe & Shop very kindly provided the food and beverages mentioned in return for an honest review. All views and opinions are my own.

It’s so nice going somewhere where you don’t have to order chips or get something out of the bag you’ve packed, isn’t it? I love it when I find a new place where Jumpy can actually have a few things on the menu. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling! Sounds like a lovely place, and I’m impressed that the GF bread tasted nice! Thanks for sharing with #FreeFromFridays

Oh wow. Sounds fab. I wish there was more of these cafes around. I’m gluten and lactose intolerant so eating out can be tricky x
