Laundry is something that is done daily, if not twice daily in this house. Like most, my children seem to get everything on their clothes, and due to Theo’s dust mite allergy I find myself washing duvets, bedding and sofa covers regularly.
The team at Eco Egg very kindly sent us their Laundry Egg to try – an alternative to the potent detergents that could irritate Theo’s delicate skin. The Laundry Egg is supported by Allergy UK and the National Eczema Society and is also dermatologically tested.
As soon as our Laundry Egg arrived I opened the packaging and set it up ready for it’s first test – I was surprised to find small bags of pellets within the packaging. I soon realised these little pellets were the magic behind the Eco Egg. Some pellets were grey and other’s white, and combined they worked scientifically formulated wonders.
Not only is the Eco Egg Laundry Egg eco-friendly, it is also budget friendly. In the two weeks that we have been using the Laundry Egg I have saved over £5 in detergent!
The Laundry Egg can be used alongside fabric conditioner, so I popped the egg into the drum with my load of washing, poured a little of our pure fabric conditioner into the tray and began a wash. I expected to hear the egg clunking around, or at least a rattle, but I heard nothing. Once the cycle was complete I inspected the toddler stained items I’d washed and found no sign of the previous evenings baked beans. The Laundry Egg had worked just as well as my normal branded detergent without the harsh chemicals.
I’m most definitely a laundry egg convert – a little stain remover may still be required on really stubborn stains and no, you don’t get the same fragrances like when using powdered detergent, but items are cleaned to a good standard and aren’t laced with detergent chemicals making them kinder to young eczema prone skin.
The Laundry Egg is available from the Eco Egg website – the price varies between £7.99 and £19.99 dependant on the amount of washes you require. Other Eco Egg products such as dryer eggs are also available.
The team at Eco Egg very kindly sent me the products mentioned in return for an honest review. All views and opinions are my own.
