Review / Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Machine Studio For Kids.

Today I’m bringing you all another review as I’m trying to play catch up with work I’ve fallen behind on. If review’s aren’t what you like to read – sorry! This is one for the crafty parents…

I must admit, sewing is not my strong point. Even using a machine. I spent many years at school struggling to make cushions, bags etc. My brain just can’t cope with it!

Mia however, has taken to crafting like a duck to water. Whether it’s painting, sticking, cutting or drawing, she spends hours making and doing for others.

So when the opportunity arose to review the Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Machine Studio for Kids, Includes Clutch Purse Project Kit I was very excited.

I knew that Mia would love to try her hand at a new type of craft – and I was right!

The sewing machine itself is a gorgeous cream and pink design and comes with everything you need to get your little one started including –

  • Sewing machine
  • Mains adaptor
  • Instructions
  • Foot pedal.
  • Accessories tin with spare needles, bobbins, cute little scissors and thread.
  • A clutch purse kit including pattern and fabric.

Lots of adult supervision is required for setting up the machine, and threading the needle is very tricky! Despite that, it only took around ten minutes to get everything in place and get started.

Once ready, we made a start on creating a clutch bag using the kit provided.

We had a few teething issues with our machine but we soon worked around it and spent an hour or so creating our bag using the clear and simple instructions provided.

Step 7 was a little tricky as the machine struggled to sew through 4 layers of material – but we managed by using the buttons on the machine to navigate the needle rather than the foot pedal.

All in all, we think Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Machine is fantastic if you can provide plenty of adult supervision and have lots of patience!

I think it’s a really great way to get kids interested in the art of needlework and the projects available for the machine such as Great British Sewing Bee Apron Kit, GBSB Kids Sewing Project are absolutely brilliant.

If you’re looking for a Christmas gift for your crafty little one I’d definitely recommend the Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Machine Studio For Kids. RRP of £49.99. It’s available from Amazon, Argos, and other good toy retailers.

Thanks for the review, I’ve just purchased this for my 8 year old for Christmas. I purchased without finding a review before hand so relieved to read this one! Made me chuckle that the review (yours) that I managed to find was from an “allergy mum” as I too am an allergy mum, my son has many serious ana food allergies so not only have I found a good review but I’ve found a new blog to follow! xx
